Chiefly records concerning the Gen. John A. Logan Post No. 540, the Evanston, Ill., contingent of the G.A.R., including tributes, memorials, burial lists and maps, and documentation of a lecture sponsored by Post 540 concerning the "Libby Prison Escape" which occurred during wartime. Also includes personal war sketches, company bank books, and a company descriptive book, all dating to the early 1860s; together with papers of Union soldier Fredrick Fickel, photocopies of newspaper clippings from the period, and miscellaneous correspondence.
